另一方面，校园生活费用昂贵。根据学校的不同，住在校园里的费用可能是在城市里租房子的三倍。它也可能不太舒适，缺乏隐私。
住在校外通常比住在大学宿舍便宜。它允许你自由地过自己的生活，而不必担心宵禁和吵闹的室友，也不必担心正常大学生活的干扰。消极的一面是，你可能很难找到一个愿意租房子给一群外地大学生的房东。
你可能需要自己提供家具，尽管在一个小公寓里找到二手家具通常不是问题，因为学生们在完成学业后会留下很多东西。安全也是一个重要问题。校园通常有自己的24/7安全措施，这意味着如果你住在校园里，你可能不必担心日落后四处走动。然而，如果你住在校外，你就只能靠自己了。
