什么是同花顺的可能性(the probability of a flush)
扑克中有许多不同名字的牌。一个很容易解释的叫做同花顺。这种牌由每一张牌都有相同的套牌组成。
组合数学的一些技术，或计数的研究，可以用来计算在扑克中画出某些类型的手的概率。被发齐平的概率相对来说比较容易找到，但比计算被发齐平的概率要复杂得多。
假设
为了简单起见，我们假设五张牌是从标准的52副牌中发出来的，不需要更换。没有一张牌是野生的，玩家保留所有发给他或她的牌。
我们不关心这些牌的抽牌顺序，因此每手牌都是从52张牌中抽取的5张牌的组合。共有C（52，5）=2598960个可能的不同手。这组手构成了我们的样本空间。
直冲概率
我们首先找到一个直接齐平的概率。同花顺是指手牌按顺序排列所有五张牌，所有牌都是同一套牌。为了正确计算直冲的概率，我们必须做出一些规定。
我们不把皇室同花顺算作直接同花顺。所以排名最高的直冲包括九，十，杰克，皇后和国王的同一套西装。因为一张王牌可以数一张低牌或一张高牌，所以排名最低的同花顺牌是一张王牌，两张、三张、四张和五张。直道不能循环通过王牌，因此皇后、国王、王牌、二号和三号都不算直道。
这些条件意味着一套西装有九次连续刷新。因为有四套不同的西装，所以总共有4 x 9=36个直冲。因此，直接冲洗的概率为36/2598960=0.0014%。这大约相当于1/72193。所以从长远来看，我们预计每72193只手中就会有一只手。
冲洗概率
同花顺由五张牌组成，它们都是同一套牌。我们必须记住，有四套西装，每套一共有13张牌。因此，同花顺是一套13张牌中的5张牌的组合。这是用C（13，5）=1287种方法完成的。由于有四种不同的套装，因此总共有4 x 1287=5148次冲洗。
其中一些潮水已经被算作排名较高的手。我们必须从5148中减去直接刷新和皇家刷新的数量，以获得级别不高的刷新。有36个直冲和4个皇家冲。我们必须确保不要重复计算这些人手。这意味着有5148–40=5108个不是更高级别的刷新。
我们现在可以计算冲洗的概率为5108/2598960=0.1965%。该概率约为1/509。所以从长远来看，每509只手中就有一只是同花顺的。
排名和概率
从上面我们可以看出，每只手的排名与其概率相对应。一只手的可能性越大，其排名就越低。手牌越不可能，其排名就越高。
