什么是世界上最大的发电厂？(the world's largest power plant?)
世界上最大的发电厂是中国长江上的三峡大坝。该项目自1994年开始开发，预计将于2011年全面投入运营。届时，它有望产生多达22.5千兆瓦（GW）的电力。2009年8月，甚至在所有发电机都上线之前，该发电厂的发电量为18.3 GW，超过世界上任何其他发电厂。

由于水力发电大坝形成了巨大的洪水流域，要把它们连在一起并不容易。在未来的某个时候，如果一个太阳能卫星装置成为世界上最大的发电厂，也就不足为奇了。虽然根据一些人的说法，它不会是“世界上最大的”，因为它将是真正的世界之外！
