词汇法一词是1993年由Michael Lewis提出的，他观察到“语言由语法化词汇组成，而不是词汇化语法”（词汇法，1993年）。

局限性

虽然词汇教学法可以让学生快速掌握短语，但它并不能培养学生的创造力。它会产生负面影响，限制人们对安全固定短语的反应。因为他们不需要建立反应，他们不需要学习复杂的语言。
