什么是推荐信？(a character reference letter?)
字符推荐信是一种书面通信，用于推荐个人担任公司内的特定职位或社区或非营利组织内的某些职位。有时被称为个人推荐信，这类信通常由朋友或家人撰写。主要目的是表明作为信件主题的个人具有特定的性格特征，使他或她非常适合该职位。
这与员工推荐信不同。现任和前任雇主编写的推荐信更注重个人所能提供的特定才能或技能。相比之下，人物推荐信更有可能解决诸如个人在人际关系和社区活动中表达的诚实和正直程度等问题。
由于推荐信的目的，语气通常比正式推荐信随意得多。当由家人和朋友撰写时，这封信可能会包括一些具体的例子，有助于说明使个人胜任该职位的性格特征。例如，如果个人申请成为儿童之家的志愿者导师，信中可能会提供一个或两个例子，说明他或她如何成功地与儿童和年轻人互动。。
